You tend to prefer short-term pleasures and rewards over long-term consequences. You lead a leisurely and relaxed life. You would prefer to sit back and smell the roses than indulge in high energy activities. You like the security of tradition, but sometimes have a desire to bend the rules and challenge conventional thinking. You mostly assume that people are honest and fair, however you are wary and hold back from trusting people completely, however you believe that a certain amount of deception in social relationships is necessary. Quote from Suzanne Brockmann's "Force of Nature"
So I read the following paras and all I could think afterwards was: wish I had known this years ago.

"There were some people ... that you could never let your guard down when you were around. They were dangerous, not merely because of that intense physical attraction, but because you loved them, even though it was crazy to. It was a shame, really, that you couldn't just decide to love one person, and decide to not love someone else. But love didn't know from crazy - it just happened, and the first thing you had to do was to be honest about it, at least to yourself.

And then you had to stay far away from that dangerous person, and not fool yourself into thinking you could ever have any kind of casual, temporary fling with them. It couldn't ever just be about sex - the crazy thing would be in thinking that sex would be enough.

It could never be casual, and it would always end in heartbreak. In a way, it was a gift - the kind of connection that everyone longed to find. But it was far more valuable when the person with whom you had that connection could also bring you joy.
    "

If you haven't read anything by Suzanne Brockmann, don't walk, don't run, sprint! to your nearest bookstore/library and check out her Navy Seals series of thriller/military/romance.

The Steady: McShep - Stargate Atlantis

The Ones You Repeatedly Cheat On Your Steady With: CLex - Smallville. It's a toss up at present whether I'm going steady with McShep and cheating with CLex or going steady with CLex and cheating with McShep.

The one who seduced you and fucked you over and broke your heart in a million pieces and laughed about it: Fraser/Kowalski - Due South.

The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp in the sheets: Blair/Jim - The Sentinel. Love you guys. I was steady with you for soooo long!

The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties but have never gotten really serious with: Jack/Ianto - Torchwood.

The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with but ultimately you're just good buddies 'cause the friendship is there but the chemistry ain't: Jack/Daniel - Stargate SG1. You were the stuff of fantasies guys but Blair/Jim stole my heart.

The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor, and whom you'd still really like to fuck again although you're relieved he doesn't actually live in town: Jake/Hamilton - Young Americans - what a blast!

The mysterious dark gothy one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 a.m. at weird coffeehouses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized he really was fucking crazy: Bodie from Professionals - tall, dark and dangerous to know.

The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool guy except it's never really gone anywhere: Duncan/Methos

The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at him and thinking, "Him? How the hell did he land all these cool babes?": Methos/Kronos - Highlander

The one your friend has fallen for like a ton of bricks and whom she keeps babbling to you about on the phone for hours, and you'd be happy for her except you just know it's going to end badly: Um, that's probably me, babbling about John-Paul/Craig from Hollyoaks, and yes, gutted.

    What colour is your kiss?
    Your Kiss is Orange

For you, kissing is all about pushing the envelope. You're a wild kisser.
And you don't have to know someone all that well to kiss them.
(You figure that's how you'll get to know one another!)
While you may be impulsive with who you kiss, there's nothing random about your kissing technique.

    Kissing Type: Unconventional

People See Your Kisses as: Intoxicating

You Kiss Best With: A Red Kisser

Stay away from: A Pink Kisser

Again, what is all the fuss about?
Gave 'Supernatural' one last chance tonight. It was the episode about the strega stealing life essence from a small town's children who then ended up in hospital with 'pneumonia'. It somewhat watchable until the guys fired off a series of gunshots around 3am in the morning in a motel - which apparently happens every night in this motel/town because *no-one* came to investigate the noise!!! I hate it when script writers ignore the bloody obvious consequences as to what their characters do.

Corner of the World universe by Serafina.
    CLex fic, Smallville universe

    The webpage: http://www.piekric.slashaholics-island.com/COTW.htm

Even if you are not normally a SV or CLex fan, or dislike WIPs, please consider reading this -the quality is such that you won't regret it.

This WIP giant novel is intelligent, incredibly complex, ties into the aired episodes, has well-drawn characters including interesting original characters that I love reading about, looong chapters and lots of them (it's around 50 chapters already), is screamingly funny in places and then so sad you're reaching for tissues, keeps you guessing as to what's going to happen next, and, hands down, is the best CLex fic out there (and I should know: since discovering Clexfic a few months ago, I have systematically read *everything* in the SSA and Level Three archives. I had seen this universe listed there but the sheer number of chapters was too large to read in one night. Instead, once I finished the other stories, I basically spent all day and night this past weekend reading the all the chapters posted to date)

There is a hiliarious PPT file related to the AU Mpreg spinoff to this universe - this and the related stories* (see warning below) can be found at Serafina's LJ here: http://serafina20.livejournal.com/tag/cotw+mpreg

When you get to this page, please note the chapters are up in reverse chronological order. To get to the earlier parts scroll all the way down to the "previous" link at the end of the entries and it will take you to the first parts and the PPT link.

*Please note: although AU, these stories contain spoilers for the COTW universe. If you don't want major spoilers DON'T READ THE MPREG STORIES! Although, the PPT itself is safe.

    Enjoy!

Set to the music of "Total Eclipse of the Heart", the editing is fantastic, the choice of clips is spot on, the lyrics and clips reinforcing each other and the mood of the song. Particularly enjoy the timing of the scenes to the beat of the music. Can't wait to see more by this vidder!

Doesn't hurt that the fandom is one of my favs either :) JP/C forever!

    Dragonflyer

She stood alone in the open field
With one dark dragon at her side
Tall golden grass whispering with wind
Endless secrets, the kind we will never know
And she raised her arms setting dragon loose
To sweep beyond her hands and fly
Endless tail trailing in the breeze
Across prairie fields and to the west
The wind picked up and the dragon turned
Fierce smile painted upon its face
She knew this smile from her fingertips
And silently bowed her head to show
Respect to this her mighty foe
Her hands now high above her head
    Her fingers deftly working now
Pulling tight on the dragon's long taut string
Which bound that dragon to her still
Fighting nature and the dragon's will
Her legs apart to brace the earth
Her golden hair, loose shirt blown wild
Head thrown back, eyes tightly shut
Determined to win this wicked war
Regardless of all which fights against her
    Regardless of the changing wind
    Regardless of her aching arms
    Regardless of her fingers torn
Regardless of her wish to stop
This battle with the floating dragon
I watched her running across that field
    Releasing string then snapping fast
Each time pulling hard the dragon back
To hear it screaming high above
Its voice now crackling in the breeze
No longer now the dragon's smile
But her own lips tight in a knowing win
Then I heard her suddenly snap that string
The sound echoed sharp across the fields
And the dragon fell dead down to the ground
And she left him there in his paper glory
To be washed and ruined by the rain
Never to fight with her again
And as she passed me sitting silently here
She paused and smiled just one last time
And I saw only then she had been blind

    POME
April is National Poetry Month(in the USA) - thanks for the heads up MissLucyJane! :)

So when you see this, post a poem you like to your Journal.

    what she was wearing

    this is my suicide dress
    she told him
I only wear it on days
    when I'm afraid
    I might kill myself
    if I don't wear it

    you've been wearing it
    every day since we met
    he said

and these are my arson gloves

so you don't set fire to something?
    he asked

    exactly

and this is my terrorism lipstick
    my assault and battery eyeliner
    my armed robbery boots

I'd like to undress you he said
but would that make me an accomplice?

and today she said I'm wearing
    my infidelity underwear
    so don't get any ideas

and she put on her nervous breakdown hat
    and walked out the door
